NaJie MiLi · Tri-Firm Alliance

Tri-Firm Alliance | NaJie × IPNAJIE × MiLi: Legal Support, Always Within Reach

Three entities, one system · Trademarks · Patents · Litigation · Cross-border | Updated September 2026

A patent to file, a brand to register, an infringement to take to court — in China these three tasks call for three separately licensed entities; for a client they are often three stages of one matter. NaJie MiLi brings them into a single point of contact.

Law firm practice licence

Behind the three names stands one standard of delivery: you do not need to remember which matter belongs to which entity. You state the need; we tell you who handles it, how the steps connect, and where the matter stands.

2. Why three entities: separate licences, not added complexity

Trademark agency work requires trademark agency filing; patent agency work requires registration as a patent agency (IPNAJIE, agency code 11419); litigation and general counsel require a law firm practice licence. The three licences are independent, and none of them may take on the work reserved to another.

What this means for a client: every document you receive is issued by an entity holding the corresponding licence. From patent filing to infringement litigation, the responsible entity stays clear and the chain of qualification is never broken. The division of labour is not meant to make you deal with three providers — it is what keeps a licensed professional behind every stage of your rights.

3. How a matter moves between the three firms

ScenarioHow it works
Trademark rights
to enforcement
Trademark filing, review of refusals, opposition and invalidation are handled by NaJie; where infringement, counterfeiting or unfair competition arises, MiLi takes over the litigation, the administrative complaint or the cease-and-desist letter. Rights basis and evidence stay within one system, with no second hand-over to an outside provider.
Invalidation and
litigation in parallel
Invalidation and infringement proceedings often run in parallel: the same client must both hold its patent and answer an invalidation petition filed by the other side. IPNAJIE and MiLi can act in concert across the two tracks (one handling the invalidation, one the litigation), so that the litigation schedule is not disrupted by the invalidation and the two sets of submissions do not contradict each other.
Cross-border filing
and disputes
PCT applications and national phase entry, Madrid international registration and overseas trademark portfolios are handled by IPNAJIE and NaJie; translation and proofreading of patent specifications and cross-border documents (English / French / German) are done by attorneys with the relevant language capability; cross-border infringement, platform complaints and responses, and overseas dispute resolution are taken on by MiLi. The founding partner works in Chinese, English, French and German, so cross-border matters need no relay through successive translators.

4. Who does the work

Founding partner He Zigang: patent attorney, practising lawyer, IPMS auditor and senior trademark agent; more than 20 years in IP practice (patents and trademarks), in legal practice since 2015; works in Chinese, English, French and German; MSc from the University of Angers (France), with a bachelor's degree in textile machinery — practical experience across mechanical, electronic, software, chemical and medical-device fields; expert at the Case Guidance Base of the Beijing Intellectual Property Court; member of INTA, AIPPI, the All China Patent Attorneys Association (ACPAA) and the All China Lawyers Association (ACLA).

The team: more than 40 professionals covering mechanical, electronic and telecommunications, software and AI, chemical materials and medical devices; major matters are handled by a dedicated group of case attorney, process specialist and reviewing lawyer; translations are proofread by bilingual attorneys, with automated checks on figures, units and terminology.

5. What we do

Trademarks (NaJie): trademark filing, renewal, opposition and defence, review of refusals, invalidation, defence against non-use cancellation, trademark monitoring and management, management of use evidence, Madrid international registration and overseas trademark portfolios.

Patents (IPNAJIE): invention, utility model and design patent applications, office action responses, patent invalidation, patent search and analysis, priority examination, patent annuity monitoring and management, overseas patent filings (Paris Convention / PCT / direct filing).

Copyright and software copyright (NaJie): software copyright registration, assignment and change, copyright registration, domain name dispute resolution.

Litigation and advisory (MiLi): IP infringement litigation, administrative protection (complaints and investigations), coordination of invalidation and litigation, unfair competition disputes, general corporate counsel.

6. Process and delivery

From first contact to delivery, the process follows six fixed steps:

  1. Instruction: clarify the type of work, the goods or technology involved, and the target markets;
  2. Search and assessment: trademark similarity search or patent novelty search, with a written assessment;
  3. Fee proposal: professional fees and official fees listed separately, transparently, with no hidden charges;
  4. Preparation and filing: official electronic filing, with a complete record of every step;
  5. Case management: proactive notice at every office action, opposition or refusal, with a proposed response;
  6. Delivery and follow-up: certificate delivery, and reminders for annuities and renewals.

Timing: first drafts of new patent applications are returned in 5–7 working days on the standard track, 3–4 working days on the expedited track and 1–2 working days on the urgent track; for infringement threats, a preliminary comparison opinion is issued within 48 hours. These are normal working timings and exclude the time needed for client confirmation and official examination.

7. AI-enhanced capability, and services for the AI era

AI-enhanced capability — what the client gets:

These capabilities are supported by our own business systems, on which we hold registered software copyright: the automatic IP-term management system (automatic updating and early warning of deadlines, to prevent loss of rights through lapsed terms), the patent annuity reminder system (annuity monitoring and payment reminders in China and abroad), and the contract-to-file reference system (a record for every file and a trail for every document).

Services for the AI era: ownership and attribution of AI-generated content, patent strategy for algorithms and models, compliance for training data and personal information, and responses to AI-related infringement and platform liability. These are precisely the areas where the judiciary has been issuing new rules in the past two years, and where we work across patents, trademarks and litigation at the same time.

One principle: AI delivers efficiency; people carry judgement and responsibility. Attribution follows the facts, rights follow contribution, liability follows the person in control. Every judgement and every document remains the responsibility of a person.

8. Our clients

Client and service information is stated only to the extent verifiable through public channels; specific cases and client lists are not disclosed unless otherwise agreed.

9. Contact

A right to protect, a contract to read, a dispute to answer — all of it can start with one conversation. First we assess which route the matter should take; then we discuss how to take it.
